So the BBC reports that a new blog is created every second, and the number of blogs has doubled since March to over 14 million.
What’s more interesting to me is what’s not happening.
Thirteen percent of all blogs that Technorati tracks are updated weekly or more, said the report, and 55% of all new bloggers are still posting three months after they started.
Apparently about half of bloggers lose interest after 3 months, and only about 1 in 8 writes more often than once a week. My uninformed guess is that if you’re not writing more than once a week, no one’s reading your blog. So there are less than 2 million serious bloggers. I wonder what percentage of them are read by, say, the top 90% of blog-readers?
