Total newbie, so please excuse this basic question.
Exactly what does this backup plugin backup? My main interest is pages, but if my server packed up tomorrow, could I restore an identical version of my WP site? Themes? Images?
The backup plugin backs up only the database; by default it backs up on the WordPress database tables, but you can have it back up other tables you might have in addition to those used by WordPress.
The themes and images are not part of the database; they're files on your server that you'll need to backup another way.
So if we use the wp-db-backup plugin, this will backup the WAY the theme looks and it's content, while the
database backs up the actual theme and the wordpress
directory, css files, etc.?
Also I just want to make sure I do this correctly. I
installed the plug in and activated it and I got these two messages in the wp admin: 1.WARNING: Your backup directory does NOT exist, and we cannot create it.
Using your FTP client, try to create the backup directory yourself: D:Hosting3074194html/wp-content/backup-78c6e/
2.WARNING: Your backup directory is NOT writable!
Could you explain to me in layman's terms how to make my directory writable and also how to create the backup directory? I am used to using Go Daddy and I don't know much about using http://FTP...although they have FTP available they primarily use a different method of uploading files, etc. I am not too familiar with using FTP. But I can figure it out if I have directions.

Am I correct in thinking that WP pages are stored in the database?
Yes, pages, posts, links, categories, user data, etc. are all stored in the database.

database backs up the actual theme and the wordpress

Hi
This sounds like a nice plugin, I will
try it!!
now, one question, you mentioned that
the database does not back up the photos,
etc.
Is there a different way to back those up too?
Thanks in advance
CM
The backup plugin only backs up the database. For files such as photos, you would need to use another plugin or an FTP application.
