I've never seen anything like that. And even if the backup were to fail part-way, the tables are backed up in alphabetical order, and wp_comments is first, so if it were truncated, others (like the posts table) wouldn't appear at all.
I just found out that there was some comments missing at some old posts.
I wanted to recreate the comments and turned to my backup-files.
I couldn't find any of them.
Then I looked in my latest backup file and found that only 44 comments had been stored.
The stored comments were from 2008-02-18 to 2008-05-03 but the backup was created at 2009-03-04.
Please help me find out what the problem is. I really don't want to loose any more content.
