I have been encountering the same problem on one of the hosts that I'm using. They said that the problem is not on their end.
I'm running the current versions of the plugin and WordPress and encounter the problem regardless of the status of the WP Firewall or WP Firewall2 plugin (I have had issues with the Firewall when I have tried to manually backup my database).
Any help you could provide would be appreciated.

if i try to backup by email i get the following error.
Your backup has been emailed to XXXXXXXX
The following errors were reported: is_a(): Deprecated. Please use the instanceof operator
I dont receive any mail..
Are you using the latest version of the plugin, 2.2.3?
