I have a site that was recently hacked. (http://redtideflorida.org/pages/) I ended up uninstalling WordPress and re-installing WordPress because when I restored an older copy of the database, all I got was "500" errors and "404" errors (although the admin section still worked), after using the backup this plugin created. Even after reinstall of Wordpress the same thing happens when I try to restore this database.
Any suggestions?
(PS: I've stashed a copy of the backup at xxx [removed by Austin (filosofo)] just in case viewing it is needed)
Thanks all, I'm desperate here, at this moment 100% of 5 years of content is lost. This is legislation influencing content that help change laws about ocean health in Florida, run by an overworked volunteer. (Me)
It's not a good idea to put your database dump in public like that, so I've removed the link. You might inadvertently reveal private information.
The good news is that I took a look at your backup file and it appears to be in order, so I don't think you need to worry about your content's being lost.
However, the type of errors you describe---500 and 404 responses---more likely have to do with server errors than anything else. One possibility among many is that you do not have mod_rewrite installed. They almost certainly have nothing to do with your database.
It doesn't specifically say mod_rewrite is on but I put it does have this: url_rewriter.tags a=href, area=href, frame=src, form=,fieldset= a=href, area=href, frame=src, form=,fieldset=
I put this in my .htaccess "RewriteEngine on
RewriteRule ^alice.html$ bob.html" that doesn't turn on the rewrite does it?
But I digress I guess because the problem occurred when I restored the backup, It's the oldest back up I have. I'm afraid that when it got hacked they did something to it.
Using PhpMyAdmin to restore these back ups are there any setting I need to change? I really can't loose this content.
Ok great news: Apparently the pages displayed that error because the theme that was set as default in the database wasn't actually installed in the new install of WordPress. I just installed a new theme and presto. http://redtdeflorida.org/pages/ is now back on line!
Thanks for all your help.
I must have been pretty tired when doing this the first time to not think and try that!

Thanks for the look,
I definitely had mod rewrite installed (see http://redtideflorida.org/alice.html, rewrites to bob.html). My php Info doesn't really give me a clue:
