Even older versions of WordPress should work fine with the latest version of MySQL. It's possible that some plugins might have problems, but unlikely.

What happens when I upgrade using my current databases for 1.5.2? Thats my concern. My techs were telling me that some programs using the old databases could have issues after upgrading mysql.. wasn't sure how wordpress would take it.

You do need MySQL 4.0 at least.

I want to upgrade but I have an old version of Mysql. I heard there could be problems with my databases if I update Mysql or is that not true? Dont want any problems..

Try an older version, such as 1.4 or 2.0 (click the download in original format link at the bottom of the page).

You should use those older versions only long enough for you to upgrade your blog to a secure version of WordPress.

I have an older version of wordpress and I was wondering how I can back up the databases easily? i want to use this plugin but it says i need a newer version? PLEASE HELP! thanks
