Hello,

Apparently, the memory limit is maximum 32M (from what I see in the host documentation) while Next Gen Gallery reports a real limit of 40M.

This is a shared server webhost so I don't really have the option to modify the memory limit, it is enforced by the provider.

Maybe the best for me is to reinstall the old release of WP DB Backup.

Thanks a lot for your help anyway! I have sent you a donation for this great plugin!

Yes, in previous versions of the plugin what happened is that the gzipping was done incrementally, which worked better for larger total database sizes, but it had the unfortunate result of incorrectly reporting the total unzipped file size.

With the wrong size reported, some common gzip clients failed to open the gzipped file, and people would think that there was something wrong with the gzipped file (when really, they just needed a more robust gzip tool).

So in the latest version of the plugin, the gzipping occurs to the completed backup file, which seems to fail if someone has low memory available to PHP. Could you check to see if your PHP memory is set to 32M in php.ini, instead of 64M which is typically recommended for WordPress?

Hello,

Since I have performed the upgrade to the latest release, the backuped file isn't compressed anymore.

I have tried to set the mod_evasive to true and increase the delay to 10.000 but still the file isn't compressed.

I suspect that it is related to the file size (around 10 M) because on other file sizes where the DB is smaller, the file is gzipped without any issue.

Has there been any modification in the way the file gets compressed between latest two releases?

Thanks a lot for your brilliant plugin, very very usefull!

Could you be using another plugin?

About 2 weeks ago, I stopped getting the automated email backup.

When I tried to backup the database manually, using any option (save to server, download, email), it would not work. The progress bar would eventually stop showing progress even if I left the window open for hours.

After reading this forum, I deactivated the Contact Form 7 and All in One SEO plugins, and the WB DB Backup plugin would successfully save the backup to the server manually. I never received an email with the database backup, but it could be that it has grown too large to send in email. The site has about 5600 posts and about 37,000 comments.

I have had the three plugins (WB DB Backup, All in One SEO, Contact Form 7) working together for a few months now. I'm not sure why the combo would quit playing together nicely two weeks ago.

Here are the versions that I'm using.

Wordpress v2.8.6
WP DB Backup v2.2.2
Contact Form 7 v2.1.1
All in One SEO v1.6.10.1

It still does not work for me.

When I execute the backup, the blue progress bar gets all the way to the end. The message underneath says "Backup complete, preparing backup for download". However, nothing happens (nothing is downloaded). If I click on the linked "backup" in the sentence above, I get an Internal Server Error 500.

You can see a picture of what I'm talking about here.

When I check my backup_81a5d folder, I can see that the manual backups are being created successfully. But for some reason they will not download.

Also, as I mentioned previously, I am not receiving email backups. And I don't think the scheduling function is working, because although I have set it to make weekly backups, I don't see any backups created in the backup_81a5d folder for that time period.

I've put in some changes that should correct the file size issue. You can download it here. Just copy that wp-db-backup.php file over the existing wp-db-backup.php file in the wp-db-backup/ directory.

Thank you for that clarification.

If you might go one step further here, I am on WP261 and the downloaded wp-db-backup is 215 but shows as 2.2 in plugins manager.

WIth my many other issues I have been unable to easily find why there is a version difference. Can you comment or point to explanation?

This matters to me because each time I run a backup (since my comment above) the progress hangs at random points. Aborting and retrying corrupts the blog db which I then must repair in phpMyAdmin (repair tables all).

If not version, can you suggest most common reason for this?

Thanks for you valuable time, Phil.

Hope this is good place to add a question.
Filosofo, can you confirm this error is the 'bug' you are likely now working on?

On-demand backups succeed, and I can download them from the other two option (save to server & download) but the option to email them results in error:

"Backup complete, sending backup via email...
The following errors were reported: ERROR: The mail application has failed to deliver the backup."
