Hi there, and thank you for the Custom image sizes plugin :)

I would just like to offer a slight modification to the plugin code:

replace line 31 with

$size_name = is_array($size_name) ? implode("x", $size_name) : trim($size_name);

because image size can be input as array too.

thanks for listening ;)

You should be able use the default Gravatar functionality of your theme, so you probably don't need this plugin.

This plugin is meant mainly for theme developers, so it requires some familiarity with theme coding.

Hello,

It is common experience that wordpress rich editor system adds or removes <p> tags at will, inserts <br class="spacer_" /> tags, get rids of <div>'s and changes formatting by itself. Overall this makes for very frustrating editing experience.

I tried to use Tiny MCE Advanced plugin, disable wpautop and other methods, but it didn't help much. HTML seems to quickly "self destruct" as soon as it is saved a few times.

I wonder if you could suggest comprehensive way for Wordpress editing system to stop changing HTML in rich editing mode?

Hi,

Thanks for the fast reply.

I tried everything. In mysql I tried to upload the backup as utf8, latin and more or less all the rest.

I tried to change the mysql connection collation to latin, utf, whatever.

Did the same with charset.

Tried to use iconv to convert the backup online.

The settings in Wordpress positively did not change. But just to exclude it, I tried changing the wp-config.php.

The problem is not the Danish charecters, but the Chinese ones in all the posts. They are turned into ???? and no matter what I change whatever setting to I now can not publish them either.

My guess is that one of either the WordPress or MySQL character encodings were different prior to restoring the database.

Try changing the various character encodings, such as changing WordPress's to utf8_danish_ci.

Also, there are also tools that let you convert one encoding to another, such as iconv. You could using such a tool on a copy of the database backup.

I have a Danish blog, where I often also write in Chinese.

Until recently that was not a problem. However, I had to use a backup of the database, and now all the Chinese characters – in all three years of my articles – are converted into questionmarks.

Plus, now I can’t publish Chinese characters either. I can write them, but once they are published, there’s just a line of ?????.

As far as I can tell, none of the settings in Wordpress, MySql or Mars Edit have changed.

In Mars Edit the encoding is set to UTF-8 (which I need for special Danish characters æ, ø and å).

In the Wordpress dashboard it is also set to UTF-8.

And in Php Admin MySql it is utf8_danish_ci.

What to do? I really hope there’s help out there.

Hi. I just wanted to mention that it is standard practice to make archives (tarballs, zips, etc.) with subdirectories inside. It is considered not just bad form, but actually somewhat rude to dump many files into the root of an archive.

Someone unpacking the archive into, say, wp-content/plugin/ will have files spewed all over their pristine plugin/ dir instead of in a nice, self-contained wp-backup/ dir or some such.

99 out of 100 Wordpress plugins follow this convention; indeed, it is a UNIX convention in general. You would do well to follow it in the interest of positive user experience.

Just a suggestion. :) Have a nice day!

The opening
<?php
and closing
?>
are already in your
functions.php
file, so you shouldn't be adding them.
functions.php
is not a template file like the other theme files, so you don't want it to be printing, as it will do with that code.

Also, be sure that all that actually is on one line; if you break it up onto multiple lines, it has to be done correctly or else it won't work.

Wordpress version: 2.7
Theme: Kubrick, default

Hi

I tried implementing your Wordpress, single post, template code suggested to Nathan Rice,
http://www.nathanrice.net/blog/wordpress-single-post-templates/

I have added this line to my functions.php

<?php add_filter('single_template', create_function('$t', 'foreach( (array) get_the_category() as $cat ) { if ( file_exists(TEMPLATEPATH . "/single-{$cat->term_id}.php") ) return TEMPLATEPATH . "/single-{$cat->term_id}.php"; } return $t;' ));?>

And created a template called "single-31.php" and placed it in the same directory as single.php (31 being the id number of the category I want to apply the different template to).

I have created a post with only that category applied to it.

Unfortunately nothing is happening and it is still using the default single.php template.

Can anyone help?

Thanks very much
