That probably means that your server's PHP has low memory allocation; one of the changes I made in 2.2.3 seems to cause problems like that for people with low memory.

I'm working on a fix for 2.2.4, but you could ask your host to to increase the memory allowed to PHP.

Besides, the home-page control plugin shouldn't be used with recent versions of WordPress, as it has this feature built in.

for some reason I have lost my home page, but it seems only me and I am the site owner, my mentor who built the site says there is nothing wrong with it as she has logged into the site numerous times and she gets the home page. I get the home page but the image is not there and there is no home page icon?? Do you have any ideas as to what is wrong?

You should not be using this plugin, as a long time ago its functionality was incorporated into core WordPress.

I only have it here for historical purposes.

I think this plug-in is going to work for me, but I am having trouble with it. I plugged it in and set it up so my homepage is at NP2020 and my blog is at blog. See here: http://www.np2020.org. Now my blog posts are showing up on three tabs, home, np2020, and blog.

I tried eliminating:

from my header.php code, but when I do the blog is still left on both the np2020 tab and blog tab, although it did get rid of the extra home tab.

Any other fixes?

Create a page with the page slug (i.e. URL basename) of "blog" and choose that page in the "Posts page" dropdown under Settings > Reading.

There is probably a "home" link hard-coded into your theme's header.php file. You can do that, or you can exclude the "home" page page from the pages that show up in the menu. Either way, you'll end up with just one link to home.

As you can see on my site, I now have two pages called Home. My blog now shows up on the Blog page and I can create static content for the Home page. But how do I eliminate one of them?

In your theme's directory, look for a file named home.php, or if that doesn't exist, index.php. Either the first or the second will determine what appears on the "home" page.

Have you tried using it with WordPress 2.1.3, then? It should work, as far as I know.

After upgrading to WordPress 2.1.3 i tried to make use of the new WordPress integrated functions to get the same results as provided with your plugin.

Some problems:

If I tell my system to use both, a home page as well as a blog start page, my blog page will always be rejected to the home page. So I created two pages but used the options menu only to assign a home page. The blog URL is automatically found by the (page) post slug than.

This works but doesnt support the Pagebar Plugin (doesnt work on pages) so that I had to exchange this against the standard navigation. Within categories or archieves I can still make use of the Pagebar Plugin.

Another problem is that tagging doesn`t work anymore for pages, only for blog posts. No matter if you make use of Jeromes Keywords Plugin or the Simple Tagging Plugin. I tested both of them.

And last but not least Technorati works only if you ping them manually. They seem to make a search on home otherwise but do not scan new blog posts automatically.

Are there any fixed rules for permalinks to be respected with WordPress 2.1.3?

Currently I have all posts and pages within my root directory. Only blog archives and blog categories are assigned to my blog directory.

The permalink structure I use worked fine with your Filosofo Home-Page Control Plugin:

Links: /marketing-blog-%post_id%-%postname%.html
Category Base: /marketing-blog

(Unfortunately pages end up with a trailing slash while blog posts end up with .html. But this is not a big problem for me. May be for WordPress rewrite rules it is?)

Hopefully I do not have to change all my URLs to make it work. Currently I believe I have to put the blog on a subdomain to avoid problems with upcoming upgrades by using a clean blog version.

I see that it makes the navigation work, but am still trying to figure out how to get some dynamic content to the home page. I'd like the home page to show the most recent post from a couple of categories. (Perhaps setting a 'static' home page isn't the right solution? I'd like a homepage that shows a lot of static content next to these two posts, and to have a seperate area at url/blog for the full blog.)

Create a page, give it the slug "blog," then select it in the "posts page" drop-down menu under Options > Discussion. Choose your home page in the "front page" drop-down menu.

I recently started working with WP 2.1.2 and am trying to understand how to get the effect that this plug-in used to provide. I'd like a semi-static page (with some summaries of recent posts) as the index page for my domain, and then a /blog directory to hold the blog. The article in the Codex about static homepages doesn't describe how to achieve this with 2.1.2 -- do you know where I can look for a description of how to do this?

First of all, you shouldn\'t be using this plugin for your blog, because you\'re using WordPress 2.1 which has this plugin\'s features built in.

To restore your original settings, you need to figure out where you installed WordPress, specifically where the wp-admin directory is. It\'s not at http://www.farmaceuti. com/tekstovi/wp-admin, and it\'s not at http://www.farmaceuti. com/wp-admin as far as I can tell, but since you have access to your site, you can figure it out.

Go to that address ( http://www.farmaceuti. com/ [ something ] /wp-admin/ and log in, then save your permalinks as \"default\" under Options > Permalinks.
